The fifth-generation Lexus LS is rumored to debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Japanese automaker is looking to celebrate 25 years of sales with a new-generation flagship to better rival the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Rumor has it that the standard LS will come with a V8 engine sporting around 465 hp while a hybrid model will have a combined system output of about 535 hp.
The original Lexus LS400 launched in 1989 as a flagship sedan for the brand, which is currently in its fourth generation.

Speaking to Autocar, Lexus European boss Alain Uyttenhoven said that the new model will be “more emotional” adding that it “will remain the pinnacle of the range and have the highest price point.” Uyttenhoven also denied rumors that the LS would get a Panamera-style liftback design, meaning it’ll maintain a traditional sedan style.
Recently, Lexus hinted that another flagship model is currently under development that would sit alongside the LS in the automaker’s lineup. That model will likely not be a sedan as Lexus seeks a halo sports car now that the LFA is no longer in production.
